Alex and Luke's 'Vermont Fancy' Wedding at the Woodstock Inn and Resort
My first (and definitely not last) time working with Silk City Photo- Chris is a fellow RIT photojournalism alum, someone whose work I’ve admired for a long time, and lucky to call him a friend- many of these images are his.
I don’t know how many of my favorite, more collaborative weddings often fall near Labor Day, but Alex and Luke’s wedding is undoubtedly among them. Because Alex and Luke often travel to the Upper Valley from New York, I’ve had the pleasure of getting to meet up with them a few times over the past year, and each time I’m reminded how much I like being around them. Organized, appreciative (reminds me of another favorite couple: Sonja and Phil, whose wedding was last Labor Day weekend), and quick to laughter, Alex and Luke make the people around them easily give them their most genuine smiles.
When I think about how to best explain the style of Alex and Luke’s wedding, the term ‘Vermont’s Finest,’ comes to mind. From their farm to table rehearsal dinner at the locally famed Cloudland Farm, to their first look photos at Billings Farm and Museum, the couple incorporated Vermont’s makers and institutions with national and international acclaim to treat their guests. It was lovely to get to work alongside Jasper and Prudence again as well, such a brilliant florist who transforms the Inn to a whole new level with his artistry.
