Madi and Jophie's Colorful Vintage Farm Wedding and Sunset Dinner Reception at Their Home in Springfield, Vermont
I spent most of the day yesterday and all morning today writing Madi and Jophie’s blog post in my head, because there’s just so much to say. Do I start with their farm, which reminds me of all my favorite nostalgic Iron & Wine songs, with stories and meaning stuffed in every corner? Or do I lead by talking about my favorite parts of the wedding, from the ceremony in the old twisted apple orchard, and the sunset dinner en plein air, where each guest was illuminated by golden light and surrounded by colorful flowers? What about the dance party that was so good we had to text our babysitter and ask her to stay longer because we wanted to stay and party with everyone after our coverage had ended?
What I really, actually want to talk about, is what has happened in the past year before Madi and Jophie’s wedding. The first time I hung out with Madi and Jophie in their farmhouse, in the midst of renovation, at their kitchen table, drinking beers and getting to know each other. I spent way too long at their place for a weekday because I didn’t want to leave. They’re both super intelligent, creative people, but also down to earth in a way that anyone could walk up to them and quickly become friends. Over the past year we’ve shared dinners at each others houses, I’ve “borrowed” them as models for a shoot, and Madi and I text a few times a week. Jeff and I both feel like we can be 100% ourselves with them, which is why we’ve quickly become friends and are happy they live in the state. Because of all this, spending the day with them, meeting their friends, and getting to know their family better, was such a delight, that I started checking my phone to make sure we still had time left to be at their wedding, because again, I didn’t want to leave.
