Leah and Grace's West Coast Meets East Coast Backyard Wedding in East Dorset, Vermont
***The talented and super fun photographer Elizabeth Friar worked with me on Leah and Grace’s wedding- many of her images are featured here on this blog post, and I hope to work with her again soon!***
On her wedding day, Leah woke up without a voice- she had lost it in the past two days whooping with joy so much during the pre-wedding festivities, but it didn’t dampen her enthusiasm on Saturday as she celebrated with her family, friends, and her new wife, Grace. Grace and Leah had met through Tinder while living in California, Leah’s home state, and chose to celebrate on the property where Grace had grown up and had so much love for she has the topography tattooed on her forearm. The property is absolutely magical- Grace’s parents lovingly care for the land, flowers, and bees, and the wedding was cradled by the old growth forest surrounding the meadow where Grace and Leah were married and held their reception.
While I’m an emotional person, I don’t tend to cry at weddings, but Leah and Grace’s wedding was an exception. Leah started her vows by talking about her intense gratitude, especially to be living in this time and place, where they can freely show their love for each other, and be legally married, and how this is the result of so many people’s passion, fight, and hard work. In homage to the TV show The Bachelor, Leah presented Grace with a red rose at the end of her vows, saying “I choose you.” Needless to say, there was not a dry eye at their ceremony.
