Ashley and John's Musical Irish Wedding at the Summit Lodge in Killington, Vermont
Two unique things were in abundance at Ashley and John’s wedding this past weekend at the rustic Summit Lodge in Killington: impromptu group singing, and overflowing pints of Guinness. That’s the side effect of gathering up a group of mainly Irish and mostly musical folk and hosting them in a ski lodge for an entire weekend, as Ashley and John did. Besides music and beer, there was no lack of colorful foliage and pure, unencumbered joy that surrounded Friday and Saturday’s festivities.
Ashley, who is an organist, professional piano player, and musical director, coordinated a celebration that included a number of homages to her thespian background, including a piano duet with her father, friends making singing appearances at the ceremony, and a sing-off with her soon-to-be-husband John, at their rehearsal dinner. As someone who grew up in a very musical family (my parents met in the musical Godspell), this was comfortable and nostalgic turf for me to tread. Having worked many weddings (and being a support to the industry), Ashley and John were incredibly sweet and appreciative of our presence, which made us only want to work harder to make poignant photos of their most special moments.
