Abby and Fran's Magical Backyard Garden Wedding in Thetford, Vermont

This past weekend, a sizable part of the population of Falmouth, MA descended upon an intimate backyard in Thetford, VT, and with them, brought their talents, their cocktail attire, and their dance moves. The party had been postponed from September 2020 to now, and moved to just the right window of time for everyone to properly celebrate.

I fell in love with Abby and Fran last fall when I photographed their engagement photos and we laughed way too hard for folks who had just met. Abby is bright and bubbly- the raucous laughter that surrounded her and various friend groups throughout her wedding day was a good hint to that. Fran is quieter than his redheaded counterpart, with eyes that light up at a good joke, and an easy smile. Their families happily pitched in to help make this lovable pair’s wedding absolutely perfect: a backyard bursting with flowers was the work of Abby’s mom, while her stepdad hand crafted a sign to hang above the driveway. The planning, DJ, officiant, and flower girl dresses were all gifts of love by family who executed them all incredibly well.

At one point, Abby pulled me aside and asked me how I liked their wedding. I answered with the thought that had popped in my head as soon as I walked through their blossoming backyard wedding: “If Jeff and I were getting married all over again, we’d do it just like this.”
