Kelsey and Derek's Grateful-Dead Inspired Intimate Wedding at Smuggler's Notch State Park in Stowe, VT
When I started talking with Kelsey and Derek about their intimate wedding pre-pandemic, we found we had a lot in common: We’re big fans of the Grateful Dead, have a toddler-aged daughter, and enjoy good hard cider. When their wedding had to be moved due to last year being… last year, we kept in touch and waited for things to clear up to plan a proper celebration, and boy, it was worth the wait! After deciding between several options to have their ceremony, Kelsey and Derek landed on their favorite place to camp in Vermont- Smuggler’s Notch State Park, a place that was accessible for everyone in their families.
Fifteen minutes before we finished up with photos, a huge rainstorm passed through, soaking us all! After the warm day, it was a pleasant surprise, and Kelsey and Derek turned on their favorite Grateful Dead songs and danced together in the pouring rain. The surprises weren’t yet over! On our way home, Abby, my assistant, and I, saw a bull moose grazing on the side of the road- the magic of Vermont never gets old!
