Katharine and Jimmy's Snowy Candlelit Wedding at the Woodstock Inn and Resort in Woodstock, Vermont

*** My dear friend, lighting guru, super talented photographer and fellow snow aficionado Em of Pogo Photo was my second photographer on Saturday, and several of these photos are hers!****

All day Saturday, as I photographed Katharine and Jimmy’s wedding, I thought of the beloved movie White Christmas, where the group of friends arrives to Vermont for the holidays, only to find warm weather and brown grass, and eventually, after plenty of singing and hoping, there’s an abundance of fluffy snow for the grand finale. Katharine, Jimmy, and their families arrived earlier in the week to balmy (for Vermont) temperatures, and a landscape that resembled more mud season and less holiday cheer. Just a few hours before their wedding, all of that changed, as the first proper winter storm of the season rolled in and blanketed all of Vermont into it’s proper attire for the season.

When I met up with Katherine and Jimmy a few weeks ago to take engagement photos, they told me their ultimate dream for their ceremony: dusk, candles, twin fires, and hopefully, snow. What a delight it was watching the snow fall in earnest as they said their vows in front of their guests, all bundled up in coats, hats, mittens, and blankets in what I consider to be the most beautiful ceremony I’ve ever photographed.

Kat, Jim, and their families all have the history of attending and working at beloved summer camps in Maine (and Kat and Jim met at camp while working as counselors!), and there were many nods to their respective camps- the pins Jimmy and his groomsmen wore, the prayer said at the beginning of their ceremony, and a big group serenade to the couple by Kat’s camp cohort, were just some of the ways they honored their favorite places on earth.

What a beautiful and memorable way to end what has become my absolute favorite year of wedding photography ever!
