Molly and Bill's Intimate Mountain Wedding and Piñata Pizza Afterparty in Denver, Colorado
When Molly reached out this spring to ask about wedding photographers we’d recommend in the Denver area for their small ceremony this summer, I had an idea.
“What if I came to Colorado in August and photographed your celebration? It would give me a great opportunity to meet you before your big wedding next year and allow me to visit a new state?”
Not only did Molly and Bill say “yes!” but they also offered to let me stay at their place and feed me while I was there, which allowed me to see how incredible they are at entertaining and making everyone in their lives feel so welcome and loved and also get to a point where I felt so comfortable around them. The photos below are a testimony to our belief that the more we get to know people, the better the photos will be. It was absolutely worth flying in the middle of a pandemic and the subsequent quarantine up in Vermont to spend the weekend with Molly, Bill, and their closest friends, some of whom happen to be related to them.
For their ceremony, Molly and Bill scouted several places a two-hour radius outside of Denver to find a quiet and beautiful place they could get married. Echo Lake, where they settled upon, not only had a stunning mountain lake, but also some insane views that didn’t take much hiking to get to. Their friends helped them tie the know with readings, and celebrated with champagne in Solo cups after. For the afterparty, they transformed their backyard into a chill paradise, with twinkle lights, a peer pong table, and even a piñata, which Molly filled with hand sanitizer, candy, chapstick, nips of liquor, and dollar scratch-off tickets (MY KIND OF PINATA).
