Anna and Jamie's Home-Grown Wedding at the Vermont Wedding Barn in Bridport, Vermont

At dusk on Saturday night after the speeches had been made and guests had their fill of delicious wood-fired pizza, everyone was called outside to watch something we’d never seen before at a wedding. Friends and family were directed to stand on either side of an invisible aisle of grass as Anna and Jamie were handed a bucket of grain and told to stand in the center of the aisle. A gate open and dozens of hungry alpacas stampeded down the middle, chasing Anna and Jamie as their guests cheered! This “running of the alpacas” was only one of many unique and memorable events that made Anna and Jamie’s wedding a favorite of ours this year.

Anna and Jamie’s wedding was a labor of love with so many of the details of the day lovingly handcrafted and grown by friends and family. Our favorite of these details were the vegetables and flowers at the wedding that were all grown by Anna and Jamie’s parents. The vegetables were then turned into appetizers, sprinkled on pizzas, and mixed into salads all made by Woodbelly Pizza. Flowers were lovingly arranged by Anna’s dear friend Hannah, who recently opened her own floral business in the pacific northwest.

Another wonderful part of Anna and Jamie’s celebration was their dog, Tula, who was a constant presence throughout the day. She trotted down the aisle when Anna and Jamie were announced as husband and wife, snuck appetizers from guests during cocktail hour, and laid at her humans’ feet during speeches.

Over the past few months of getting to know Anna and Jamie, we found so much in common, and we felt completely at home with them and all their friends and family at their wedding (and were big fans of their incredible band they flew up from Baltimore and played some favorites we don’t hear at too many other weddings!). We’re glad they have Vermont roots so we’ll get a chance to see them again!
