Kayla and Jordan's Backyard Music Festival Wedding at Their Home in Springfield, VT

Kayla and Jordan are really good at making every person they talk to feel like the most important person in the world. I felt it the first time I came over to their house to talk about their wedding at the beginning of the summer, again when they came up to our house for dinner (we talked for four hours and forgot to discuss the wedding), and even yesterday, in the middle of the craziest day of their lives, their wedding.

When I first talked to Kayla last summer about her wedding, she mentioned that she and Jordan preferred hosting a music festival at their house than a traditional wedding, and Jeff and I loved watching it come together. For the past year Kayla and Jordan have tirelessly renovated their old farmhouse home on the Black River in Springfield, Vermont, revived garden beds and planted new ones, and done all the planning and work required to host a wedding in your own yard. Each part of the day happened in a different part of their yard, and people seamlessly flowed from the ceremony, to cocktail hour, to yard games, dinner, and dancing to the live music of Josh Panda and the Hot Damned, a band Kayla and Jordan often went to see up in Burlington.

We've seldom seen guests more relaxed and at home during a wedding, it felt more like how folks tend to be at a music festival, which is exactly what Kayla and Jordan intended.
