Jamie and Jeff's Candlelit Backyard Winter Wedding and Waterworks Reception in Morrisville and Winooski, Vermont
There’s a subtle kind of magic in the end of winter in Vermont, where the spring sunshine begins to wake up the trees still surrounded in the blueness of winter snow. Because there’s a major gamble in holding a wedding (especially an outdoor, backyard wedding) in mid-March, I seldom have the pleasure in capturing this special time of year, but on Saturday, Jamie and Jeff’s fabulous wager paid off.
Jamie and Jeff are both doers, who aren’t afraid of hard work and bringing big pictures to life, which was apparent in every detail of their wedding day. Under the guidance of Jeff, a talented arborist, Jamie and Jeff spent hundreds of hours sculpting the forest behind their house, building bridges, hanging lights, and even taking advantage of the recent snowstorm to make snow benches and cocktail tables. Decked out in their finest snowsuits, guests warmed up with fires and a homemade bar before snuggling into the woods with candles to watch Jamie and Jeff say their vows.
After guests departed to Waterworks for dancing and a Mac and Cheese bar, among other delicious food, I spent some time in the dusky blue with Jamie and Jeff in the wonderland they created, using only the natural light to capture the steadfast, visceral love they have for each other. Many thanks to these sweet people for giving me the chance to photograph your vision coming to life!
