Ally and Tom's Intimate, Edge-of-the-Storm Wedding in Plainfield, Vermont
Thank you to my wonderful assistant/second shooter Abby Allaire, who has become quite the accomplished photographer, and several of the images below are hers
Ally and Tom planned and put together the loveliest wedding for their closest friends and family with all kinds of intricate, thoughtful details that were almost as much of a delight to photograph as Ally and Tom themselves. They spent the weekend celebrating their love at an Airbnb tucked in the hills north of Montpelier, hosting an intimate group of their favorite people, with their wedding the grande finale. At first, I believed their dinner table with a view of the green mountains was the shining detail of the evening, with stunning flowers by one of my florist/gardener idols, Bailey of Ardelia Farm, mismatched china, and napkins embroidered lovingly with each guest’s name by Ally. Minutes to dinner, with the table set with salads, a massive downpour erupted, and each vendor and guest sprung into action, running the food, plates, chairs, and centerpieces back to the house. This surprise weather sidelined nobody’s joy, and instead brought the weekend’s group closer together, as everyone worked together to create a cozy dinner setting in the kitchen of the house. This, the camaraderie of all the guests and Ally and Tom’s happiness as they watched all their people make their night even more special than they had even imagined, has become my favorite detail of the evening. Thomas, the other half of Ardelia Farm who was already a dear friend of mine, became even dearer in my heart as I watched him seamlessly pivot the dinner plan that evening and still make the most delicious food I’ve had in a while, and on top of that managed to joke to each guest that the salad was dressed with “fresh rainwater.”
After dinner, everyone headed upstairs to where local jazz band Warm Water entertained everyone and kept the dance party going!
