Lauren and Teo's Quietly Vogue Elopement in Barnard, Vermont
The day before Lauren and Teo’s elopement last Friday, we had our pre-wedding consult in the most unique of all places- the barnyard. Lauren was on her way to feed her flock of milking goats (she produces and sells her own delicious skyr), and I was headed to milk our co-op cow that lives on the same property. In our finest barn clothes, we laid out the plan for the next day, the sweetest little ceremony in a centuries-old church with just their parents present.
Lauren has been my neighbor for the past few years and in that time, we’ve shared Thanksgivings, parties, and living room floor tell-all wine sessions. Before her time as a goat mom, she was an editor for a big magazine in New York City, and she always has the best, juciest stories to tell.
Watching her and Teo meet and fall in love over the past year or so has been a source of immense happiness for me- there’s been a constant glow about her since they met. and seeing them together on Friday, they just make sense together- absolutely meant to be.
There was something about their ceremony that reminded me of a 19th century novel where the hero and heroine are quietly and joyfully wed in a village church. The simplicity of the old pews and white walls, lights at the windows as the snow softly fell outside. It was a fairytale ending, and beginning, for a dear friend and her love.
