Kasey and Kevin's Dog-Friendly Mountaintop Elopement in Stowe, Vermont
If I’ve learned anything this year, it’s that all my 2020 couples are STRONG! Whether it’s handling pouring rain, multiple postponements, falling down the stairs, or crazy winds, nobody has let anything get in the way of their love. Kasey and Kevin are no exception- when October 8th dawned as the coldest day this fall has given us so far, they didn’t bat an eyelash and kept going with their plan to take the Mount Mansfield Auto road and hike up to a spot on Vermont’s highest peak. The dream team from the last elopement I photographed on Mansfield was present: Greg the beaming and forever-positive officiant, Jack, the fearless and talented videographer, and his brother Matt as his assistant, and this time also as part-time dog-wrangler for Kasey and Kevin’s labs Abby and Henry.
While the winds were icy cold as Kasey and Kevin said their vows, the ice-covered trees and the mid-October foliage in the valley below were a sight few people get to see since both the gondola and toll road close early next week, giving all of us a rare, beautiful color scheme to create some gorgeous imagery. Kasey and Kevin were absolute troopers during and after the ceremony, and were the best elopement hosts- providing us all with some Lawsons beer at the end of our adventure together for a “we did it!” toast.
