Emily and Greg's Elegant, Culinary-Centered Wedding at Barcelona Wine Bar in Brookline, MA
The best meal I’ve had so far this year was mid-Summer with Emily and Greg at Barcelona Wine Bar. I made the couple choose all their favorites, and we shared several plates together over a few beers while we talked about their wedding. I loved the food, but the conversation was what really made my night. For Emily and Greg, their happy place is sharing good food with friends, and I loved watching their personalities shine in the place they were most comfortable. Because of this, it made perfect sense for them to host their wedding at Barcelona Wine Bar and to merge culinary perfection with their celebration. Instead of a formal sit-down dinner, there was constantly good food and drink available throughout the restaurant so guests could graze while they socialized, danced, and watched Emily and Greg say their vows.
When we were in the planning stages, Emily and Greg mentioned how they wanted to have a first look where they’d feel comfortable and not in so much of a public place. After some brainstorming, we decided a lovely, quiet bar would be a perfect setting for an intimate first look, and they began their quest, trying out bars around Boston, texting me photos every weekend so I could gauge the lighting, and convincing owners of their original scheme. They finally found Pammy’s, an absolutely gorgeous but still down to earth restaurant and bar in Cambridge. The staff were beyond accommodating and the venue was perfect for a quiet first look and drinks afterwards.
It was also a treat to get to spend the day with Becky and Zach, who we photographed earlier this year at the Stateroom Boston for their stunning wedding, and who introduced us to Emily and Greg.
