A Mid-Summer Styled Shoot at Twin Farms in Barnard, Vermont

Unless you’re in the wedding industry or regularly peruse wedding blogs, you probably don’t know the purpose of a styled shoot, so here’s how we explain them to our friends:

It’s in essence, a fake wedding involving between one and dozens of wedding professionals. Sometime the shoot focuses on tabletops, other times, there are models involved, and last year, the styled shoot we organized involved actual food, guests, and dogs.

Why go through all that hard work for a fake wedding? There’s oh so many reasons!

-They’re a wonderful way for wedding creatives to play with new trends and practice their own new ideas with real materials in a genuine setting.

-For every professional involved, there’s new photographs (where we come in!) to use in portfolios and for marketing.

-It’s a fun way for us to connect with other people (and places) in the industry and meet new friends who are awesome to work with.

-People in our industry (ourselves included) love what they do to the point of wanting to create all the time, and this fact fuels these collaborations.

Now you know the basics of the styled shoot, you can understand how excited we were when Ted of Jasper and Prudence called and asked us to be part of an intimate shoot at the famed Twin Farms in Barnard. Ted wanted to push color, texture, and elegance, and we wanted to get practice photographing tabletops and glassware. It was a good feeling at the end knowing we all got exactly what we wanted!
