Natalie and John's Family-Focused Elopement at the Woodstock Inn and Resort in Woodstock, Vermont
This past Tuesday afternoon, Natalie and John said their vows to each other in a quiet, sunlight courtyard at the Woodstock Inn and Resort. When they were finished, Natalie's daughter, Mia, grabbed both their hands and made promises to her new Stepfather, John, and he made promises to her, and presented a necklace to her that represented the merging of their little family. Throughout this exchange, the three of them couldn't stop laughing and crying happy tears, and though I'm not usually the crying type, I laughed and cried alongside them while photographing. I've never seen such a heartfelt celebration of a new family, and a way to honor a child in a family as well. After a big group hug, Natalie, John, Mia, and Natalie's mom, Sue, huddled together for a big, long group hug, then spent the rest of the afternoon sipping on cold drinks and wine and playing croquet. As Natalie said, "we planned the wedding our way, and I wouldn't have had it any other way."
