Alison and James' Backyard Wedding and Front Yard Reception in Morrisville, Vt.

As Jeff and I are in the midst of building our house, we are very familiar with the importance of home in a relationship, so we really resonated with James and Alison, as their wedding was literally and thematically centered around their home. Since buying their farmhouse between forest and field in Morrisville, Vt. in 2014, James and Alison have collaborated to create a paradise that reflects who they are as a couple. Chickens roam near a vegetable garden bursting with produce. James' sculptures are spread throughout the property, and unique rock details tie the whole landscape together.

The wedding started in the shade of their backyard, with a metal arch James designed and built as the centerpiece. Everyone meandered to the front yard for a laid-back, golden cocktail hour, with plenty of people hanging out on the front porch of the farmhouse or exploring the fields and gardens around the home.

I think our favorite part of the wedding was shortly after dinner, when everyone gathered around the house as Alison and James stood on the porch and thanked everyone who had been apart of building their relationship and making their house a home.
